Christchurch CBD

Steve and I went for one of our coffee walks. This is where we take our cameras and photograph anything that interests us and then sit down for a chat over a cup of coffee (and sometimes a muffin). These shots are around Victoria St through to Colombo St or thereabouts!

Fungi

Today I’m being all biological. These fungi shots were taken in a rainy day (yes, they were all rainy days actually – I did tell you that in my last posting!). I had to lay down in the rain, on the very wet ground to get these shots. What a sacrifices I make for you people!

The ones on the forest floor were taken at ISO 2000, f8 1/10s, the others were ISO 640 f8 1/50s. All hand held as my tripod was, of course, back in the car keeping dry and warm.

Hope you enjoy this departure from my usual fare; though, I wonder if maybe I’m becoming more of a generalist in my photography?

Please feel free to forward the link for page this to to friends or others who you think might be interested.

Governors Bay Astrophotography

I noticed that we had clear skies last night and with bad weather on the way decided it was time to get out and take a few astro-photographic landscape shots. I only stayed an hour so was quite pleased to get a few reasonable shots in that short time.

Both shots are taken from near the jetty at Governors Bay.

This first shot shows Lyttelton Port, near Christchurch New Zealand, in the background with the boar cradle/ramp in the foreground and of course the milky way to the right of centre.

This photo is taken at the entrance to the blocked off jetty looking towards Diamond harbour which is just over the ridge from the lights appearing on the shore line across the other side of the harbour.

Astro Photography

I was recently reintroduced to the world of astro-photography by a friend. What a world of difference modern digital cameras, fast lenses and high ISO makes. I couldn’t believe how much easier it is to get a reasonable looking result compared with the old film days!

Site moved

Finally plucked up the courage to move this WordPress site and replace my old site with this. Whew, it was a bit nerve wracking but in the end was quite easy to carry through to completion. And best of all – it worked!!
